Paris inspired Cocktails for Summer
Our way to mix it up for the summer is with a sparkling wine cocktail to drink by the pool, cafe side tables or with friends. Here is some recipes using the House Sparkling wine, Tattinger’s CARNEROS Sparkling BRUT wine. The recipes call for Champagne, you can add any sort of sparkling wine if you prefer.
French 75 The Best Known of the classic Cocktails that was invented in the beginning of the mad times of the 20th century in Paris. Remember Scott and Zelda? They spent many an afternoon imbibing this one and who can blame them?
- 1 1/2 ounces Gin (*Vodka also works) (*or the original cognac)
- 1/2 ounce fresh strained lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
- Chilled Sparkling wine (or Champagne) (2 ounces)
- Lemon Twist Garnish
Kir Royal Cocktail (*a Paris Cafe Favorite) This cocktail is on every Paris Cafe Menu, and is often made with Prosecco, Sparkling but the “Royale” is always Champagne.
- Pour about 1/2 ounce of Kir Liquor into a Champagne Flute
- Pour Sparkling Wine ( or Champagne) to fill the glass (5 oz)
- Add a Lemon Twist on the edge of the Flute or drop in a Marachino Cherry
Champagne Cocktail – Another Classic that is so easy to make, its sinful.
- 1 sugar cube (the brown sugar works best)
- Angostura Aromatic Bitters (*add a few drops to the sugar cube till it soaks in)
- Chilled Champagne to Top in the Flute glass
- Drop the Sugar cube into the Flute glass that is pre-chilled, then pour champagne on top and watch the bubbles play.
